Chief Financial Officer – Lagos, Nigeria

Age: Approximately 40years and above

Education& Skills:

  • Chartered accountant from a reputable institution and advanced training
  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams across multiple geographies
  • Strong listening/ learning skills and ability to anticipate and adopt to dynamic markets
  • Self-motivated and can-do attitude in tackling strategic, financial and operational challenges as part of the senior leadership and an exercised ownership mentality
  • Experience in implementing and refining key ERP, especially financial and risk mgt. systems
  • Excellent proficiency in written and verbal English, French is a plus

Experience:

  • 15 years or more of finance experience, 10 years in leadership roles in finance and accounting
  • Extensive work experience in commodity/ agriculture industry in international and reputable organizations
  • International work experience, across emerging markets, including Africa (i.e. Dubai is not the first international posting)

Job Specification:

Scope

  • Responsible for finance &accounting function of the  Group, across its operations in Nigeria/ West Africa, Dubai and emerging locations, overseeing the work of all financial controllers in each company of the  Business Group
  • Drives the overall improvement of the financial, accounting, risk management and audit systems, processes and capabilities across the Group
  • Requires minimal supervision and manages independently the finance and accounting team

Job Specific Comments

  • Preparation and execution of budgeting, monitoring and forecasting processin collaboration with the financial controllers of each company within the  Business Group
  • Enhancing and establish finance & accounting systems, processes and capabilities
  • Develop the finance team by both internal and external recruiting and development
  • Preparation of management and regulatory reporting in time and quality
  • Exercising full cost control across personnel/ other costs and managing working capital
  • Financial planning, review and monitoring of projects (revenues & costs, opex& capex)
  • Forecasting of funding needs, identification funding sources& management of bank relations
  • Managing risk, including identifying, quantifying, controlling and flagging FX, market, credit, operational and political-risks and take mitigating actions
  • Strengtheninternal control and audit
  • Monitoring of legal cases pertaining to the finance and accounting function
