Main Purpose – what is the main objective/purpose of the role?
Overall Execution of the HR strategy at the plant so as to ensure smooth, harmonious and progressive employee relations and smooth settlement of IR related issues
- Partner with Plant HR Head and execute HR strategies to create a performance oriented work culture and ongoing development of workforce.
- Drive PepsiCo Core HR processes and initiate and drive Employee Engagement
- Improvise and drive innovation in HR systems and processes
- Drive recruitment process for associates
Accountabilities –
IR Strategy and build healthy IR environment:
- Partner with Plant HR Manager to Develop and ensure gold standard execution of HR/ IR Strategy and build harmonious & healthy IR environment for smooth functioning of factory operations
- Participating in negotiations with Unions on various issues & maintaining good Industrial relations
- Manage Contractual and ensure compliances pertaining to Contract Labour
Discipline Management
- Constantly monitoring the level of discipline in the plant and taking proactive measures to keep it in control.
- A close tracks of absenteeism in the plant and taking appropriate measures to keep it low.
- Manage efficiently security and ensure defined access control, zero theft & pilferage.
Liasoning with appropriate Government authorities and Statutory Compliances
- Maintaining constructive relationships with govt. agencies that directly affect the plant operations and also the ones that constitutes plant’s environment.
- Dealing with govt. officials, Factory Inspectorate office, PF, ESIC, Labour Commissioner Office, Labour and industrial court.
- Ensure all statutory compliance & returns as per legal guidelines
- Understanding of proceedings in labor courts, industrial tribunals, national tribunals etc. and their jurisdictional powers, Liasoning with the company lawyers.
- Thorough understanding and compliance with all statutory requirements relating to managing people at the plant and understanding of the state machinery for enforcement and redressal of any issues relating to these statutes.
- Compliance with different labor & employment laws & ensuring substantive and technical compliance (returns to be filed, records to be maintained, the formats to be followed, notices to be put under various statutes etc).
Employee Relations & Grievance handling
- Management of relations with employees at collective and individual level to the advantage of the plant and the employees while meeting the company, legal and social standards
- Channelizing the energy of workmen in welfare and community development activities.
- Constantly striving to be proactive in all workmen issues. Taking actions to solve day to day problems of staff and workers.
- Clear understanding of the importance of timely redressal of grievances. Able to resolve inter & Intra group conflicts. Employee Involvement & Employee Welfare
- Organizing monthly meetings with union committee members. Planning and implementation of the corrective action plans.
- Carrying out the whole administration of plant suggestion schemes/company initiatives. Active involvement in making of different quality circles, preparing their meeting.
Schedules and monitoring circle activities.
- Understanding of different ways in which employees can be recognized and rewarded and their relevance in different contexts.
- Counseling employees through performance difficulties and planning for improvement; facilitating the discussions between employees and supervisors.
- Time keeping, pay roll and salary: Monitoring the activities relating to Time Keeping and salary functions. Maintain Leave record for all employees.
PMP
- Partner with Plant team and support the Plant HR Manager in ensuring a performance driven culture through a gold standard execution of the PMP process – From Objective setting, to Midyear review, year end calibration and driving the people plan process.
- Anchor and ensure quality Objective Setting, Mid Year Review, Annual Appraisal in the plant – includes providing direction, doing quality checks on the PDRs, reviewing for timelines and ensuring ratings within the bell curve parameters.
- Partner with Plant HR Manager for quality execution of People Processes in Palnt Function, Study, identify gaps and build solutions on

Driving Employee Engagement through R&R and people process execution
- Support Plant HR Manager in ensuring employee welfare agenda execution at region levels thru family Meets/ Fundays/ improved Work-Life balance
- Drive Employee Referral, Spot Awards and other MU/BU initiatives to acknowledge good performance from the employees
- Build and drive robust employee engagement calendar across the Plant
- Support Plant HR Manager to drive relevant initiatives to help build a value base culture for the plant team. Drive execution through the plant team.
- Ensure quality execution in providing a R&R platform to the winners of the R&R scheme. Ensuring that employees feel excited about achieving their numbers and remain committed to driving achievement for similar schemes in future.
- Create communication platform to ensure continuous excitement and relevance of the R&R scheme to the employees
- Identifying training needs of factory employees & preparation of training calendar and its implementation.
Staffing
- To partner with the Plant HR Manager and MU Talent Management to ensure the selection of the right talent in the plant team (L01-05) through internal job postings, referral programs and partnership with search partners, and take complete accountability of staffing and selection
- Ensure pan India vendor management, IJP process, role description development, sourcing, selection, and on-boarding.
- Suggest and drive retention efforts. Provide attrition analysis to the Plant HR Manager and help create employee specific initiatives, engagement, movement/ promotion discussions etc.
Capability Development
- Partner with the Plant HR manager on Level Wise diagnostic to enhance effectiveness
- Support the Plant HR Manager to build level specific capability building intervention for 1st supervisory level – Identify the right program and ensure execution through the plant HR team. Ensure success of LearnSmart –ensure execution of quality and relevant programs.
Other Plant HR Responsibilities
- Map and improve upon the current HR processes and authority matrix
- Maintain and further optimize the service levels to the field by ensuring effective delivery on HR processes
- Ensure that the HR costs (VLC, G&A etc) are controlled through appropriate cost reduction techniques
- Lead & Coordinate Internal Communications activities
- Voice concerns of plant employees on Policies, harmonize them with other FMCG companies, recommend and implement new policies
- Be the FPR for all plant HR related data to the internal team
Key Skills/Experience Required – specific education/certification, specific functional experience, language etc NEEDED for the job. Please note that this is not necessarily the incumbent’s personal background.
- MBA (HR) from a management institute (as per the statute) with 3-5 year of experience of handling HR modules /welfare activities at the plant level.
- Good command on local Language ( S/R/W)
